Infir\u00admi\u00e8re mil\u00adi\u00adtaire pen\u00addant la guerre d\u2019Indochine, elle s\u2019est dis\u00adtin\u00adgu\u00e9e par son courage et son d\u00e9voue\u00adment dans des con\u00addi\u00adtions extr\u00eames. En 1954, au c\u0153ur de la bataille de Di\u00ean Bi\u00ean Phu, elle choisit de rester aupr\u00e8s des sol\u00addats bless\u00e9s mal\u00adgr\u00e9 les bom\u00adbarde\u00adments inces\u00adsants et le si\u00e8ge impos\u00e9 par le Viet Minh. Son avion san\u00adi\u00adtaire ayant \u00e9t\u00e9 immo\u00adbil\u00adis\u00e9 sur la piste bom\u00adbard\u00e9e, elle aurait pu \u00eatre \u00e9vac\u00adu\u00e9e avec les autres per\u00adson\u00adnels non-com\u00adbat\u00adtants. Pour\u00adtant, Genevi\u00e8ve d\u00e9cide de rester sur place pour soign\u00ader les bless\u00e9s dans un h\u00f4pi\u00adtal impro\u00advis\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pen\u00addant plusieurs semaines, elle tra\u00advaille sans rel\u00e2che dans un envi\u00adron\u00adnement chao\u00adtique, d\u00e9pourvu de ressources m\u00e9di\u00adcales suff\u00adisantes. Elle soigne non seule\u00adment les sol\u00addats fran\u00e7ais mais aus\u00adsi les pris\u00adon\u00adniers viet\u00adnamiens, incar\u00adnant ain\u00adsi l\u2019humanit\u00e9 dans l\u2019adversit\u00e9. Ses gestes sim\u00adples \u2013 un sourire, une parole r\u00e9con\u00adfor\u00adt\u00adante \u2013 redonnent courage aux sol\u00addats acca\u00adbl\u00e9s par le si\u00e8ge. Lib\u00e9r\u00e9e peu apr\u00e8s, elle re\u00e7oit plusieurs dis\u00adtinc\u00adtions pres\u00adtigieuses pour son courage : la Croix de Guerre, la M\u00e9daille Flo\u00adrence Nightin\u00adgale d\u00e9cern\u00e9e par la Croix-Rouge inter\u00adna\u00adtionale et la L\u00e9gion d\u2019honneur. Mal\u00adgr\u00e9 ces hon\u00adneurs, son his\u00adtoire reste large\u00adment m\u00e9con\u00adnue du grand pub\u00adlic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Genevi\u00e8ve de Galard incar\u00adne la force des femmes qui ont con\u00adtribu\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019Histoire dans l\u2019ombre des grands \u00e9v\u00e9ne\u00adments. Son par\u00adcours nous rap\u00adpelle que l\u2019h\u00e9ro\u00efsme ne se mesure pas unique\u00adment sur le champ de bataille mais aus\u00adsi dans les actes d\u2019humanit\u00e9 face \u00e0 l\u2019adversit\u00e9.
