Rebelle, vision\u00adnaire mais aus\u00adsi cri\u00adtiqu\u00e9 pour ses d\u00e9rives autori\u00adtaires, il incar\u00adne les espoirs et les d\u00e9fis des luttes post-colo\u00adniales en Afrique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Les d\u00e9buts d\u2019un leader r\u00e9vo\u00adlu\u00adtion\u00adnaire<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>N\u00e9 en 1924 dans une colonie bri\u00adtan\u00adnique alors appel\u00e9e Rhod\u00e9sie du Sud, Robert Mugabe a gran\u00addi dans un con\u00adtexte de s\u00e9gr\u00e9\u00adga\u00adtion raciale et d\u2019in\u00e9galit\u00e9s cri\u00adantes. \u00c9duqu\u00e9 dans des \u00e9coles mis\u00adsion\u00adnaires, il s\u2019est rapi\u00adde\u00adment dis\u00adtin\u00adgu\u00e9 par son intel\u00adlect et son engage\u00adment poli\u00adtique. Apr\u00e8s des \u00e9tudes en Afrique du Sud et au Ghana, o\u00f9 il fut influ\u00adenc\u00e9 par les id\u00e9es panafrican\u00adistes de Kwame Nkrumah, Mugabe retour\u00adna en Rhod\u00e9sie pour lut\u00adter con\u00adtre le r\u00e9gime colo\u00adnial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans les ann\u00e9es 1960, il devint une fig\u00adure cl\u00e9 du mou\u00adve\u00adment nation\u00adal\u00adiste en cofon\u00addant la ZANU (Union nationale africaine du Zim\u00adbab\u00adwe). Robert Mugabe fut \u00e9lu Pre\u00admier min\u00adistre lors des pre\u00admi\u00e8res \u00e9lec\u00adtions d\u00e9moc\u00adra\u00adtiques. Son dis\u00adcours inau\u00adgur\u00adal pr\u00f4\u00adnant la r\u00e9c\u00adon\u00adcil\u00adi\u00ada\u00adtion nationale mar\u00adqua les esprits : il appela \u00e0 d\u00e9pass\u00ader les ran\u00adcunes entre Noirs et Blancs pour con\u00adstru\u00adire une nation unie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sous sa direc\u00adtion ini\u00adtiale, le Zim\u00adbab\u00adwe con\u00adnut une p\u00e9ri\u00adode de prosp\u00e9rit\u00e9 rel\u00ada\u00adtive. Les investisse\u00adments dans l\u2019\u00e9ducation et la san\u00adt\u00e9 firent du pays un mod\u00ad\u00e8le en Afrique sub\u00adsa\u00adhari\u00adenne. Cepen\u00addant, les ten\u00adsions poli\u00adtiques et \u00e9conomiques ne tard\u00e8rent pas \u00e0 \u00e9merg\u00ader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Les d\u00e9rives autori\u00adtaires<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au fil des d\u00e9cen\u00adnies, Mugabe s\u2019accrocha au pou\u00advoir, devenant pr\u00e9si\u00addent en 1987 apr\u00e8s avoir mod\u00adi\u00adfi\u00e9 la con\u00adsti\u00adtu\u00adtion. Son r\u00e9gime fut mar\u00adqu\u00e9 par une r\u00e9pres\u00adsion s\u00e9v\u00e8re con\u00adtre l\u2019opposition, notam\u00adment lors des mas\u00adsacres de Guku\u00adrahun\u00addi dans les ann\u00e9es 1980. Ces \u00e9v\u00e9ne\u00adments ternirent son image inter\u00adna\u00adtionale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans les ann\u00e9es 2000, sa poli\u00adtique de redis\u00adtri\u00adb\u00adu\u00adtion des ter\u00adres agri\u00adcoles \u2013 visant \u00e0 cor\u00adriger les in\u00e9\u00adgal\u00adit\u00e9s h\u00e9rit\u00e9es du colo\u00adnial\u00adisme \u2013 provo\u00adqua une crise \u00e9conomique majeure. Il d\u00e9c\u00e9\u00adda en 2019 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge de 95 ans. Son h\u00e9ritage reste ambiva\u00adlent : pour cer\u00adtains, il est un h\u00e9ros de la lib\u00e9ra\u00adtion africaine ; pour d\u2019autres, un dirigeant qui a sac\u00adri\u00adfi\u00e9 son peu\u00adple sur l\u2019autel du pou\u00advoir per\u00adson\u00adnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mugabe incar\u00adne \u00e0 la fois les espoirs d\u2019\u00e9mancipation post-colo\u00adniale et les d\u00e9fis li\u00e9s \u00e0 la gou\u00adver\u00adnance en Afrique.
